Hillside villa,
Benahavís.
A sunken circular lounge set around an open fire — terraced into the slope between the house and the pool.
Concept render · the fire lounge at dusk
A slope, a view,
and too much sun.
The villa sits high on a Benahavís hillside — pale architecture, long sightlines to the sea, and a garden that fell away from the house in a single open drop. Beautiful, but with nowhere to settle: no shade, no centre, nothing to gather around once the light went.
Our brief was to give the slope a heart. We carved a circular room into the level change — a sunken lounge held by a low board-formed wall, an open fire at its centre, and ornamental grasses brushing the edges. The geometry does the work: a perfect circle reads as intention against the loose planting and the rectilinear house.
Drawn before a single stone was set.
The whole garden resolved on paper first — circulation, levels, hardscape and planting masses set in relation to the house, the pool and the view.

The circle, to the millimetre.
Setting out for the sunken lounge. Concentric radii hold the fire ring, the curved seat and the board-formed retaining wall — with a single opening cut on axis to the steps.
Materials, kept quiet.
The garden, from every seat.
